Some experiments belong in the garage or workshop, not out in the backyard. The 15 Gallon Advanced Model is a complete copper still that runs on 220V electric heat. That means your setup doesn't need a propane tank, a burner, or an open flame. You bring the wash and the patience. The still brings the copper and steady power.
Heat that stays steady
Every run is a small chemistry lesson. Heat drives vapor up out of the pot, the copper meets that vapor on its way, and the condenser turns it back into liquid. With electric heat, the energy going into the pot stays even from start to finish. That makes it easier to repeat a good run, or to change one thing and watch what happens. That's the scientist's half of the hobby. The alchemist's half is reading the run and deciding where to make your cuts.
Why 15 gallons on 220V
Fifteen gallons is a serious working size, and 220V is the kind of circuit that suits it. Many homes have one for a dryer or a range. Before your first run, make sure you have the right circuit where the still will sit, or have an electrician add one.
What people run through it
- Water distillation
- Essential oils from plants and botanicals
- Fuel alcohol, with the proper federal permit
- Spirits, for licensed and permitted distillers
Owning a still is legal in the United States. Distilling alcohol is not, unless you hold federal (TTB) permits. Follow federal, state, and local law for anything you run.
